Vasvári Memorial Endurance Bicycle Tours
The first Pál Vasvári bicycle tour was organized by the Kolozsvár (Cluj) chapter of the Transylvanian Carpathia Society (EKE) on the 31st of July 2001, on the occasion of the annual EKE-camp, organized that year in Székelyjó (Săcuieu). That year presented a good opportunity for this tour to be launched, as it was the 175th anniversary of the birth of Pál Vasvári.
The tour was successful, and that prompted the idea to have it organized in the following years as well, in connection with the already traditional Vasvári Memorial Days, with the finish at the Vasvári memorial post in Körösfő.
Therefore, since 2002, the Vasvári Memorial Endurance Bicycle Tour has taken place as part of the Vasvári Memorial Days in Körösfő, being an integral part of the celebrations. It continued to be organized by the Kolozsvár chapter of EKE, and since 2009 by the Transylvanian Carpathia Society – Kolozsvár 1891 (Erdélyi Kárpát Egyesület – Kolozsvár 1891) on the Saturday closest to the 6th of July (the anniversary of the Battle of Fântânele).
